Trick-Or-Treating

David's been counting down the days to this day. He loves candy and dressing up. Sophia now likes this day too. She now understands that she gets candy from people and how cool is that!? As far as Steven, well ... he's at our mercy so he's tagging along.

Did You Lose Your Grandma?

I was at the right place and the right time ... See, just before 3 o'clock this afternoon I ran up to my mailbox to drop a letter I wanted sent. I waved to an old lady in her Buick thinking she's a neighbor (most of my neighbors are old!) I haven't met. She waved hello back and then she stopped me to ask for directions. She was frazzled but basically coherent. She was able to give me a business card of the place she needed to go. I went back home to get my cell phone and then called the number. I spoke with the receptionist and that's when it came up that Rose (the old lady) had been lost since 10am! Apparently someone else had tried to help her with directions and she never made it there. OK, I thought I need to involve the police because she will just get lost again. So, I called my local police and invited Rose to my home and gave her water and a sandwich. Shortly thereafter, an officer came and interviewed Rose. He decided to take her to the station until they get a hold of a family member. So he and Dave help her out the door and got as far as the porch and sat her on a chair there. By that time, Rose had gotten weak (probably from dehydration) and so the officer called for the paramedics. I was in the house busy with the kids when the paramedics came and gone. Later a lady officer relieved the sergeant. They finally got a hold of Rose's daughter and she was on her way to pick Rose up. By 5pm, the daughter came grateful and took Rose home. A couple of hours later the daughter came back for the Buick and thanked me again. I was just glad that Rose was safe now.

Oh, there's something else too. I think I've talked to Rose on the phone. A while back I received a wrong number call and it was an old lady calling from a nursing home ... confused and wanting desperately to talk to her daughter. I managed to tract the daughter and got her to visit her mother. I tell ya, there's something about the name ... first and last name rang a distant bell! I wanted to ask Rose's daughter when she came back for the car but I thought she'd find me crazy ... heck! I was thinking I was crazy!!! But if something turns up ... you read it here and that eerie feeling was valid. --Happy Halloween to me! Dave now calls her my stalker.

Birthday Brownie for Calvin

Instead of a cake, I baked a giant heart brownie for you Calvin. Unfortunately, I forgot to put back the memory stick in my camera so the pictures I took of it and the kids are in the camera internal system. I don't know how to transfer it to my computer but when I do I'll post it. By the way, the brownie was delicious!

Sophia's Toddler Bed

Earlier this week I mentioned to Dave that Steven barely fits in his bassinet. He asked if I wanted Sophia's crib in our room. His idea was to put Steven in it but I didn't want a girly crib for him so I asked him to convert the crib to a toddler one for Sophia to sleep in and Steven will sleep with us. So he did.

This is a picture of her first night in it. Of course she didn't last in it. She missed her Daddy and she ended up sleeping with us. Partly because she's been sick, she likes being close to us so she really hasn't stayed the full night in it. She starts off there but eventually cries out for her Daddy. --By the way, pictured is my favorite quilt. My friend Chanel made it for Sophia. Unfortunately, my cheesy camera did not capture the high quality stitching and beauty of the quilt. I tell ya, she's an amazing quilter ... check out her blog.This is a picture of her tonight in it.

When I Grow Up ...

... I want to be like Mandi!* Those of you that have met her will understand why. She is genuinely a kind person. You can tell from her happy countenance that she is living the gospel. She has many talents (plays piano, speaks Spanish, knows sign language, cooks well, she's crafty, she's friendly and smart, has 2 green thumbs, she's a terrifc wife and mother, she and David are regular temple goers, etc.) and more importantly she shares them! So bummed when she moved 2 thousand miles from me a few years ago. I miss you my dear friend but I'm glad we still keep in touch. Thank you for setting such a good example for me and others around you. Hugs and kisses to the kids for me. Love you all!!!

My Afternoon Without The Kids

About 2 or 3 weeks ago, Tish had asked me if I'd like to join her to see the Mambo Kings. I said sure, thinking we were going to see a concert of a Cuban band. It turned out to be a play (The New Mambo Kings) filled with singing and dancing. It was quite fun! Some of the dancing was like watching Dancing with the Stars live. If there was enough room in the aisles I would have been dancing along but had to settle jiggling* in my seat! OK, one of these days I'll have those sexy moves! Wish me luck!!! Hee hee hee... Anyway, Tish and I enjoyed it and even got to talk and shake hands with one of the Mambo twins. And surprised to discover that a couple of the ladies were actually tiny up close (the cast went to the foyer after the show). We were joking to ourselves saying that we could crush them if we were to lie on them! They really were petite. Anyhoo, I enjoyed the wonderful afternoon Tish, thanks! Thanks also to Mom Bertha, Monica, and Patty for babysitting my 3 little monkeys.

Fruit Stand

Our persimmon tree is giving lots of fruit and will be ripe pretty soon so Dave decided to build a fruit stand. That way we would have a pretty place to put the fruits to share with our neighbors. --Pictured is the frame work he built today. He still needs to put a roof and paint it. Not too shabby for making it up as he goes. Great job, Hon!

Oh, to my filipino readers ... you'd like some? Well, they're not the Asian kind. It's the American ones that only tastes good if they're super ripe. I tell ya, I tried one when they weren't ready and boy I will never make that mistake again!!! Yuck! Anyway, I understand that there's a lady in our neighborhood that makes a killer persimmon pie. I'll have to track her down and ask for the recipe.

Live Oak Pumpkin Patch

Pumpkin season is here! So it's time for a visit to a pumpkin patch. Today, the kids and I went to Live Oak Pumpkin Patch. We were initially gungho about our adventure until David couldn't go in the giant inflatable pumpkin play center. It was only accepting those on a tour. It will then open for the public at 3pm. I wasn't going to wait 5 hrs! So he was bummed!! So back to the giant haystack that he liked. "Did that, done that" attitude is what I got. Well, I tried to move things along and see if he'd go to the petting zoo. Not his cup of tea! So off we went to the gift store and there he started to perk up. In the meanwhile Sophia was busy picking up pebbles and barks from the ground. She was happy. I, on the other hand was starting to itch from the dust and atmosphere, not so happy! And Steven wide awake and cool as a cucumber. My sweet boy! Then we went to check out the pumpkins. We ended up with 3 small ones ... one for each of the kids. David was now happy! Oh, we were glad to bump into Stephanie and her daughter from our old ward. Her daughter's pre-school was there on a tour. Anyway, we called our pumpkin patch adventure over shortly thereafter and met Dave for lunch at El Polo Loco.

Picture Tag

A friend of mine did this in her blog and I thought it would be fun to do. Join me and do a Picture Tag as well. Here's how it works ... go to your pictures in your computer and pull out the 4th folder and post the 4th picture in that folder and describe the picture. Here's mine ...Unfortunately I'm not sure what it is!! Dave must have taken it. I'm guessing it's a motor, engine, ?? some sort of car part of his '55 Bel Air that he was going to rebuild. He ended up selling it to a man in Australia.

It's About Time!

I finally finished reading this 4th book of the series (I've had it for a month!). I think I may have to read it again because I didn't love it as much as my friends did. Maybe I missed something! I read it quite choppily (3 young kids gets this old mother too tired to find leisure time) so that may have been why as well. Anyway, overall I did like the book because this series really are quick reads and that's a lot to say for someone who's not an avid reader! --Thanks Erika for lending me the books and Karen for getting me into it.

David's New 'Do

David went with his dad today to get a haircut. He came home pouting saying, "I wanted the other kind!". Whatever that means. Looks good to me! My picture taking doesn't do it justice but I think he's handsome like his daddy!
