Spring break 2010

Today was David's first day back to school from having 2 weeks of spring break. We didn't get to go to Disneyland as planned because I kept deliberating whether it was worth purchasing the annual passes for the kids and I. Considering cost of gas, food, souvenir, etc. multiplied by two to three times a month that we would plan to go. Also, our ride choices would be much limited because of little Steven. Not to mention the worry of having to leash all three of them! I think we will eventually make the investment ... just not exactly sure when. Anyway, back to spring break. Well, we did managed to hit Newport Beach. David had a blast while Sophia and Steven feared the water. The kids also got to play at Jump!Zone but was cut short due to a collision between David and another boy ... tears shed both ways but all was well in the end. We also spent time at Chuck-E-Cheese for pizza and play. We went a couple times to the movie theaters and practically cleaned out Redbox's PG collection. Additionally, the kids got to visit relatives. Grand ol' time with cousins and trampoline at grandma's. We also had picnics at the local parks and at our front yard. Had a backyard bonfire roasting hot dogs and marshmallows during one of the cold nights. Lots of visits to the library for checking out books, story time, and computer play. We even got to visit few friends from our previous ward. But I'd say one of David's favorite time was having one of his classmates come over for a play date.

It was all fun but I'm exhausted! I had to do most of these with the kids without Dave 'cause he was at work.

To wake up to a new calling

Late this morning I logged into Facebook and received a message from one of the bishopric letting me know that he needed to talk to me to extend a calling. Time's really changed! Land lines are going to be obsolete! Who calls from a land line anymore? These days you're more likely to get a cell phone text or e-mails ... or Facebooked!! Anyway, the kids and I got to church early so Brother M. took the opportunity to talk to me right there in the chapel where we sat. He extended to me a calling to be a Nursery Assistant. Had he asked that a few months ago, I'd be thinking to myself ... "Oh no, please Father, no!!". Well, since Steven's still quite attached to me I've been spending quite a lot of time in Nursery and have gotten to appreciate the fairly new Nursery Leaders and gotten to know the little cutie pies there, so this is welcomed.

I was surprised that the bishop asked for the sustaining vote for my calling right away. It must not have been more than 10 minutes since I was extended the call and I wasn't set apart for the calling yet (I do get set apart for that, right?). I wasn't released from the other calling as well, so in the meantime I am holding two callings. Anywho, I was put to work right away. Since, I had the sustaining vote of the congregation, I felt right to interact with the children and truly felt happy to. The only hang up was that Steven kept crying when I'd leave his side to tend to another child. In due time he'll understand that I'm there to stay and there for the other children as well.

I'm excited!! I've already fallen in love with the children and thrilled to be able to hang out with them. I'm one happy chick! :)

I've been traveling!

In just 5 1/2 weeks I've been in Afghanistan, New York, Poland, North Carolina, Germany, Iraq, San Francisco, Berlin, and even in heaven! Currently I'm somewhere in the south (of North America) ... I'll let you know when I figure it out. Next, I'm going to China and pretty much everywhere else after that. What the heck am I talking about, you ask? Well, these have been some of the places where my book reading have transported me to and I am loving it! Dave isn't much for traveling outside of the United States so I'll have to settle on traveling this way ... hehehe.

Seriously, I've been a sponge lately. I'm on my 13th book and still make time to read the scriptures and perform my ADLs (activity of daily living). Oddly enough, my house isn't more messy than usual! There have even been a couple of days that it's been cleaner! OK, there have also been a couple of days that it's been unkept. Overall, it's liveable!!

Where do I find the time? Well, I don't watch TV except peripherally when the kids are watching. I read when the kids hover over Dave and that's pretty often! Also, the kids and I leave early to pick up David from school in order to park and read. And of course, at night when the kids are asleep. From time-to-time, I give myself 1-2 days break time from reading to re-energize. You know, there really is time if you make time for it and want it enough.

I love the library! Books everywhere!! Lots of places yet to go!! Lots of adventures and life lessons yet to discover!!! Come, join me. Go here for updates on where I've been and where I'm going. ~Happy reading everyone!!

Go private?

I'm considering making this family blog private. What do you think?
