Concert fun

I want to thank my generous sister-in-law Tish for treating me to an awesome concert at The Greek Theatre to see Vanessa Williams and Kenny G last night! I always enjoy spending time with her because her happy personality is so uplifting. Those of you who know her know what I mean. Anyway, we headed to L.A. a couple of hours before the start of the concert and had dinner at Palermo Italian Restaurant. We were in the mood for seafood and so we had scampi and salmon ... a bit too salty for my taste, probably too much capers. Then we got to the theatre a bit late and found ourselves close to an hour after that to finally get to our stack parking. Not fun but with Tish, everything was fun ... she does not allow unhappy moments to take over! She finds something positive in everyone and everything! How cool is she?! Anyhow, we finally got to the concert and missed about 1.5hrs already, but the night was still young and we got to enjoy an hour each of Vanessa and Kenny. Wow! We had incredible seats! Fourth row from the front! Kicking myself for not having my camera on me (even though it wasn't allowed) and bad timing for my cell phone to be full of memory and unable to take pictures! If I sneezed, I would have sprayed them ... that close! Anywho, they were incredible! Vanessa was gorgeous and what a wonderful singer. Kenny G, of course, has amazing lungs! Great talents. We really enjoyed the entertainment. There were a couple moments or so (eg. romantic songs) when we were both wishing our significant others were there with us but sister time was also great. Thanks again Sis, you rock!
There is something else I took out of this adventure and that is the attribute of generosity. Tish and my sister Sheila are great examples of generous people. That's a wonderful quality and so I will try to follow their examples and be generous as well. There, it's been added to my personal goal list!

My booger monkey!

My little Steven is mellow no more! The little baby that I wanted ten more of is out of the calm and easy phase and into the curious and adventurous stage. He is getting close to being as handful as his sister! Yeap, Sophia is still the queen of "gulu gulu" or "malikot" ... don't know the exact translation to English, maybe ... pull out your hair, drive you crazy, super monkey active. Anyways, here's just one of many monkey things Steven gets himself into ... runny nose and all !!

My silly sister!

My sister came by this afternoon and noticed the above picture on my desktop screen and was jazzed that we finally got a decent picture of the two of us. She then proceeded to tell me that we could show that picture in her funeral ... silly girl !! I then told her that they can show that picture in my funeral too. Now, we're both silly girls!!!

I love you to pieces Chick! You're the best! Mwahh!!!

Postcard from Canada

I didn't get a chance to get postcards and stamps until the very last day of our Canada trip and even then I didn't find the time to send them out! So, this is your postcard. :0)

Steven and I took the opportunity to go to Canada for one of my cousin's wedding. We had a blast! It was wonderful to be with extended family. We hugged, laughed, ate, ate, ate, and ate! Serious Filipino cooking was happening. I have three sets of aunts and uncles that are local there and they prepared feast for us Cali folks that came. Even if you were on a diet, you can't say no! Anyway, back to my cousin's wedding. The ceremony was lovely and their reception was grand and entertaining! What a sweet couple they are ... congratulations Derwin and Nicole! Welcome to the marriage club.

Most of our week stay was spent with family ... just gathered together enjoying each other's company. We did manage a quick visit to Jackson Point Lake (which looked like a beach!), a catholic church in New York, and of course Niagara Falls. My sister and I were able to attend an LDS church on a Sunday that we were there. I was hoping to visit the temple but ran out of time.

I know I left out a lot of details like: I had a MISERABLE (major nausea and vomiting) flight to Canada, the reception was open bar the entire time (5pm -1am)therefore, many of my young cousins did major damage to their livers that night, the precious mother-son dance and poem, one of my cousins got detained at customs both ways (nothing criminal, just clerical error), losing my fake nails one by one, Canada has the smallest trash cans, tons of shoes left by the doorway to every house visits, how I missed my hubby, David, and Sophia dearly, the reactions to the "7 days of Mama and Steven are thinking of you" gifts for Dave and kids to open for each day that Steven and I were in Canada, etc. Still, the important thing was the joy we all had gathering together again. Truly priceless moments spent.

Thank you Uncle Pedy and Aunt Lulu for accommodating our stay ... it was better than any fancy hotel!! We love you Canada family and miss you already.

Blogging from Canada

Yes, I am in Canada. Steven and I went here for my cousin's wedding. We're having a blast! It's awesome to be with extended family. I had forgotten how crazy wonderful they are! Of course I've got several sets of aunts and uncles here so every visit to their homes is always a feast! Definitely no dieting in this trip!! Lots of yummy Filipino food and you know me, I can eat and I did and not done yet ... we go home tomorrow night!!

Truly, I'm enjoying spending time with my relatives. What a great opportunity this is to have so much of us gathered together. It was a wonderful wedding ceremony and a grand wedding reception. I'll post the details and pictures later.

I must say, it's not quite the same without my hubby, David, and Sophia. We miss them terribly!
