Step Out Walk

About a couple of weeks ago I received an email from Jackie saying that she's going to participate in the Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes on October 1st.  I replied back stating that I'd love to join the walk with her.  She was out of town and just a few days before the event, she emailed me back to say that she'd love to have me join her and her husband.  I ended up registering the day before the event.

I was nervous, recalling my traumatic experience with a 5K Run I participated in several years ago (embarrassingly towards the end of the pack!).  I'm more out of shape these days so I was worried that I'd slow Jackie down (for some reason "race" was on my mind).  I was happy that this wasn't a race (duh, the title of the event said Walk!!) but truly a walk .. a stroll.  Whew!!

It was a fun experience.  There was a great turnout ..over 4,000 walkers!  I was glad that it wasn't a hot day or it wouldn't have been so fun.  ;)

I was thrilled to have had the opportunity to support my bff and spent time with her and her husband, John.  The sweet couple treated me to a yummy lunch after the event.  Then later, Peb and I had hours of girl talk.  :D

Just got our numbers, we're ready to go!

Starting line

Post race ..cruising the event booths

P.S.  I recently received a check for $50 to add to the fundraising ... giving a total of $770 raised.  Woot woot!!  Thanks Adele.

Belated Valentine's

I know I'm super late but Happy belated Valentine's Day!  Hope you and your loved ones spent a wonderful day together.  ~Sweet little David surprised Dave and I with breakfast at bedside.  I got sausage and water and Dave got sausage, cupcake (Hostess kind), and Coke.  He said he would have given me a cupcake too but we only had one left!  Sooooo cute!

My Valentine treats from hubby and my 3 munchkins!

Special yummies from my visiting teacher.  Thanks Deb!!

*The kids received a special treat in the mail from my dear friend Arlyn.  A Hello Kitty puzzle that read, "Happy Valentine's Day David, Sophia, and Steven. From Auntie Arlyn" when put together.  Adorable!!  Shooting myself that I didn't get a picture of it before the kids lost some of the pieces.  :(  ~Thanks Arlyn!!

*Also received a sweet Valentine's card from my bff, Jackie.  Thanks Peb!!

Birthday catch up

Steven's birthday celebration lasted about a week and a half! Been quite busy with that and other things so I haven't been able to make time to blog as they came. So here's my attempt to update his birthday adventures. Making collages seems to be the simplest way to showcase several pictures at once.

This was on his actual birthday. Little David had school so he wasn't in the blowing of the cake pictures. After David's school the kids and I went to Chick-fil-A for lunch and play (Daddy went to work). Later that evening we went to David's swim class.

This was a combination birthday celebration for Leno (my nephew, 15yo) and Steven at my home. We did the usual: food, socializing, pinata, cake and ice cream, and opening of presents. I dropped the ball and seriously forgot games and party favors!! ... I don't know where my head went! But we had fun nonetheless.

One day I had a girl's day out with my friend Jackie (dropped the kids off to my sister's) and she sent me back with a gift for Steven. He loved his Leap Frog fridge phonics and especially his card ... can you tell by the tight hugs? Thanks Auntie Jackie and Uncle John! --Then on another day, my youngest brother and his kids came over since they weren't able to make it at Leno/Steven's birthday party. Always a treat to see them!! Thanks Uncle Joey and cousins ... don't know yet what to do with the boatload of money!! :)

BFFs and Congrats Hill !

Gloria is in Cali for a few days and we got a chance to get together. The 3 amigos met for lunch at Olive Garden. This visit we had a nice treat; Glo's niece, Rachel, joined us. As usual we had much to talk about but not enough time ... even though we were there for 4.5hrs! We got to talking about high school memories and things to do out of boredom and I think we scared Rachel a bit. Wild and crazy gals we use to be and can be. OK, mostly Glo and Peb ... I was a bit dull ... though I had my moments. Anyways, it's always a time well spent when I'm around my BFFs. Oh, Glo brought gifts for my munchkins and so when I went to pick them up they were thrilled to open their surprise. Thanks Aunt Gloria!!

P.S. We missed you Hillary (Glo's daughter) but I suppose being in Disneyland with a couple of your best buds is better than hanging out with old fogies! Congratulations on graduating high school and getting into Portland State University! Yeay!!!

Menopause

This past Saturday my friend Jackie (Peb) and I went to see "Menopause The Musical". It was hilarious! It poke fun of a woman's rite of passage of "the change" through re-lyricized songs of '60s and '70s. I didn't want to admit that I actually related to a few of those challenges, like memory loss, weight gain, mood swings, and wrinkles. The rest is up and coming ... soon!! Yikes!!!
Peb and I had a nice afternoon together. She treated me to lunch at Chili's, then we went to see the musical. Girl time doesn't get old. I love you Peb. We've got some time before we qualify joining the "red hat" club ... let's pretend another 20yrs. :-)
**Thanks Tish for these tickets. It certainly was an appropriate 40th birthday gift and I love you too.

The 3 Musketeers

Two of my best buddies, Jackie and Gloria or to me Peb and Glo. We go way back! Way back to 1982. Unfortunately, more pictures are still barried in the garage so I'll have to post a follow-up later. I love you gals!

Distracted

Courtesy of Jackie

My time with Blogger has been compromised! A couple of my jr. high school friends has gotten me into MySpace. I wasn't crazy about the idea of opening an account but it was the only way I would be able to see their sites so I did. Before I knew it, I got hooked! I still consider this site my primary website so don't worry about missing anything ... it just may take me a little longer to post 'cause I'm chit-chattin' away with them.
I only have four "friends" on MySpace so if you've got an account too, let me know.
