I Did it Again!

Yesterday David lost his tooth #3.  He put it in an envelope marked "My tooth" and placed it under his pillow last night before he went to bed.  Of course, the Tooth Fairy forgot to stop by!  What is wrong with me?!  My memory is incredibly bad!!  Anyway, this morning I heard him shuffle to his room (I was sick so the kids slept in my bed with Dave while I slept on the bottom of the kids' bunk bed), said good morning to me, and then started to climb up to his bed.  That's when I remembered!  Oh crap!  He's checking under his pillow.  Oh man, I could not look at his face.  I heard it in his disappointed groan.  I needed a Twix moment at that time (see Twix commercials to know what I mean).  But I played cool and asked what's the matter.  He said that the Tooth Fairy hadn't come.  I instinctively said that it was perhaps because he wasn't at his bed and on top of that, I had been in the room.  It could be that the person who lost the tooth had to be lying on the pillow that the tooth was under and no grown-ups should be in the vicinity, right?  Well, he bought it.  He had no choice.  Poor kid.

So tonight, I made sure I remembered!  There, it's done.  The Tooth Fairy stopped by with a little extra dough to make up for the blunder.  :)

Worst mother ever!

Little David had NOT turned in his first lost tooth to the Tooth Fairy last night and I about threw it down the kitchen sink this morning!! I had forgotten that he kept his tooth in his lunch pail (the tooth came out during lunch at school yesterday) and this morning I cleaned it out ... shaking off the crumbs into the sinkful of dishes. Later I realized that his tooth was there and I gasped! Panic strickened I searched through the dishes and used a strainer to dump out the water collected from the bowls. No luck, just plenty of mozzarella cheese and such. Turning pale, nauseous, and feeling like the worst mother ever by the second, Dave asked if I had found it. When I hadn't, he pulled up his sleeves and bare handed he stuck his hand into the disposal in a disgusting search for the tooth. Meanwhile, I was hanging by thin ice with racing thoughts of what I'm going to do without a tooth for the Tooth Fairy. Is there a tooth on Ebay, Craigslist, etc. that I can purchase and receive within 6hrs (when David returns from school)? Should I pretty-package an empty box saying that his tooth was in there? Can I make-shift a tooth? I don't know!! I was going crazy!! So back to Dave, when no luck was found in the disposal he went back to my strainer. My savior!! It was there after all! He roared with laughter when I told him that I must have thought it was a piece of mozzarella cheese!! Whew!!! That certainly jump started my day!! My heart is still pounding!!

Tooth Fairy night

My seven year old finally lost his first tooth! Wonder what the Tooth Fairy will leave for him under his pillow tonight?
